Wayside Waifs Bark Park

Looking for a great new dog park for Fido to explore? Why not plan a visit to Wayside Waifs Bark Park? This Kansas City, Missouri park was a gift bestowed upon the city through the generosity of Harold and Marilyn Melcher. The Melcher family possessed a passion for providing a safe space for dogs to properly socialize and enjoy time off-leash. 

With this in mind, several play spaces were designed that included full fencing and a section reserved for use by small dogs. Also available within the dog runs are plentiful water fountains, benches in areas with shade and bountiful trees, and a dog wash station suitable for cleaning up even the dirtiest of dogs after a day of play. Wayside Waifs Bark Park has also installed what they refer to as "Time Out Kennels." 

These kenneled areas offer dogs a quiet place to decompress and relax when they become overstimulated as a result of play. A feature unique to Wayside Waifs Bark Park is their Courtesy Comfort Station. Designed to keep owners and their dogs cool in the summer months and warm during the winter, this center offers all canines and their human counterparts could need for a day of fun. 

Among the great amenities to be found there are bathrooms, beverage dispensers, pavilions, picnic style seating, and an outdoor patio. Poop bags are provided on the premises for the cleaning up of canine waste. To ensure all dogs and owners are able to enjoy this great dog playground, this public facility is accessible to all for a nominal yearly fee. All proceeds from the membership dues are given to help homeless pets in Kansas City.

Yearly memberships to Wayside Waifs Bark Park cost $120 per year which includes a key card pass which permits 24-hour access to the facility. Monthly memberships are available for $20, and daily passes are $3. Owners must also submit a completed registration form, a signed waiver, and vaccination records which show proof of a current rabies shot. Park officials also require that all dogs wear their rabies and dog license tags on their collars at all times. 

Several rules are set in place to ensure all pets remain safe. Wayside Waifs Bark Park strictly forbids wolves and breeds that are wolf hybrids from entering the park facilities at any time. Additionally, prong, pinch, and choke collars are not permitted on the premises.
