Dog parks in El Paso, Texas, don't get better than the Westside Community Dog Park. It might be right on the edge of the Westside Community Park and surrounded by barren countryside, but it's easily accessible via the park roadways. Just drive through the park entrance and follow the signs to the dog park. There's plenty of parking close to the off-leash area as this El Paso dog park has a parking lot.
While owners might be tempted to let their dog out of the car without a leash because the lot is so close to the gate, it's not a good idea. A pup running wild around the car park could cause an accident. There are separate holding zones to enter the two different off-leash areas. In this dog park, the small pup enclosure is as big as the large dog compound so owners should double check they're going in the right side. Letting a big dog off its leash in the small dog park can cause mayhem and vice versa.
Both of the off-leash areas at this dog park in El Paso are super spacious grass fields which have been fenced with super sturdy chain-link. No dog can get out, and no coyote can get in. They are open to the elements though and get pretty hot during the summer. Owners can catch some shade in one of the pavilions, but there's nowhere for pups to get out of the sun.
They have been provided with a dog-friendly water fountain so they can get a drink when they're thirsty. In the Westside Community Dog Park, owners do not need to go out of their way to dispose of poop they have scooped. There are trash containers distributed throughout both off-leash areas which is great as it saves pet owners from a long walk. There is no viable excuse for not picking up a pet's poop here as there are plenty of poop bag dispensers too.
