Description

For a pleasant nature hike near Germantown, look no further than the Black Hill Trail! This furrific path is located within the 1,300-acre Black Hill Regional Park, where four-legged visitors are welcome to tag along. So lace up your sneakers and leash up your pupper—it's time to hit the trail and go exploring!

The Black Hill Trail is among the more than 20 miles of hard and natural surface multi-use routes located in the Black Hill Regional Park. Spanning 4.6 miles, this mostly paved trail will take you and your furry hiking partner through oak and hickory forests, as well as along the twisting and turning banks of Little Seneca Lake. It is recommended to begin your hike at the park's visitor center, where you can park your car, fill up your water bottle, and use the restroom before setting off.

Once you and Fido are off, you can expect a wooded trek with gentle inclines and puptacular views of the water. Don't furget to bring your camera—you'll want to have photos of your pooch enjoying the pawsome scenery! Carry waste bags at all times, too, and help keep the park clean by removing any doggie doo immediately.

If your furry pal is up for more adventure after you've tackled the Black Hill Trail, there are many others to explore, including a water trail that goes around the lake. Or, you can let them run loose at the half-acre dog park near the visitor center. If Fido's had enough excitement for one day, head to the picnic area and refill your tummies with a packed lunch.

Since Black Hill Regional Park is a pretty pawpular destination, be sure to head out early to snag a parking spot and avoid crowds on the trail, especially during the weekends. A woofderful time awaits you and your pup on the Black Hill Trail!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
