Description

If your city pup is in need of a change of scenery, you can't go wrong with bringing them to Tregaron Conservancy in northwest DC! With pawsome trails and furrific gardens, this historic woodland park is the pawfect place for urban doggos to recharge and reconnect with nature!

You and Fido will find this hidden gem tucked between the neighborhoods of Woodley Park and Cleveland Park, just a short 15-minute drive from downtown. Previously the site of magnificent estates, Tregaron is now a public oasis where two- and four-legged guests can relax and enjoy a beautiful day out. Pawhaps the best way to explore this 13-acre park is by following Tregaron's main trail, the Bridle Path. Spanning ruffly half a mile, this mulched trail meanders through the entire site and can be accessed from any of the park's four entrances.

The Bridle Path will lead you and your curious pooch past meadows and open fields, through woods, along Klingle Stream, and to a lily pond. All of the park's other trails connect to Bridle Path, giving you and Fido a number of loop options to choose from. As you're strolling along, see if you can spot or hear some of the birds that call Tregaron home, including the blue-winged warbler, sharp-shinned hawk, and house sparrow.

While it may be tempting to let your canine friend run loose and play a game of fetch in the open fields, keep in mind that furry visitors are required to stay on a leash at all times at Tregaron, so it's better to leave the toys at home. Don't furget to bring clean-up bags, though, and dispose of all waste in the trash receptacles near the Klingle Road entrance. Benches are scattered around the park, providing spots to sit and rest.

For a puptastic stroll in Washington, DC, look no further than the Bridle Path at Tregaron!
