Everybody knows that a tired dog is a good dog. Help your pup be their best by taking them for a walk, jog, or run on Marine Drive Trail. This furrific trail is located in northeast Portland and clocks in at 17.6 miles. Needless to say, your furry friend will have plenty of room to roam.
The western end of the trail is located inside Kelley
Point Park. This beautiful green space is absolutely worth checking out with
your pup. Here you will find parking, restrooms, picnic tables, and pawsome
views of the Columbia River. When you
are ready to begin your walk, hop on Marine Drive Trail and start your journey.
As your pupster trots along the trail, they can take in
even more views of the Columbia River. Keep your eye out for boats, especially
as you near the marinas. After a few miles, you will come across Smith and Bybee
Wetlands Natural Area. Unfurtunately, dogs are not allowed in this natural area,
so your pal will have to admire the beauty from afar. The middle of the trail
does have some gaps, so it’s a good idea to check out a map before you leave
home. Towards the end of the trail, you can access Broughton Beach Park. Here leashed
canine visitors can sniff around the sand and dip their paws in the water. The last part of the trail has very little
shade, so make sure it’s not too hot if you decide to continue.
Since the trail is wide and flat, it draws cyclists,
joggers, and other dog walkers. Help your pooch yield to traffic as
appropriate. Make sure you always have some clean up bags in your pocket, and
don’t forget to carry plenty of water for both you and your pooch. A walk on Marine Drive Trail will definitely
make your pup’s tail wag!
