Are you and your pup would-be hikers that really are just looking for a stroll together? Look no further than the Mary Lake Park Trail is the city of Redding, California. You and your pup are in for a treat here.
Pick up the trailhead for this trail at the parking lot for Mary Lake Park located in the western portion of the city on 29 acres of land. This trail is short and easily traversed by even the newbie pup hiker!Â
The 0.7-mile loop is the main trail which will take you for a walk around the beautiful and scenic Mary Lake where you will be treated to wildflowers in the springtime and landscaped grounds year-round. The pond is full of ducks and geese, so you can relax on the benches along the trail and offer them a bit of a snack if you would like. The trail is lined on both sides with beautiful trees for added beauty and lots of well-needed shade in the summer months.
Other small paths spur off this trail which offer even shorter hikes through the park. All the visitors to the park make use of these trails for dog walking, jogging and watching the birds which use this lake for wintering over. Beavers are even known to live here!Â
Be sure to pack your binoculars to see these animals up close. Restrooms can be found in the park along with drinking fountains. It is important to keep Fido on leash throughout your visit. The park requires everyone to clean up after their pups to allow this park to remain pup-welcoming.Â
Head to the Mary Lake Park Trail for a nice hike on paved grounds and enjoy spending some quality time with your pawtastic pup!
