Description

If you're looking for a small rural retreat for the hustle and bustle of the city, the Mendocino Bay Viewpoint Trail is the place to go for you and Fido. The trail itself doubles as a scenic park, where the two of you can relax, walk, and view the gorgeous surroundings around you. The rural trail is short and made from compacted soil, but offers some of the best views along the coast.

The area is also known as the Mendocino Overlook and can be found along Brewery Gulch Road, where hikers can park along the road or on a small gravel parking area. The trail is split into two parts. The first part travels along the southern portion of the overlook, with views of the ocean that's surrounded by cascading trees and lots of vegetation, creating a photogenic mix of green and blue.

The other part of the trail is much longer and curves along the northern point of the area and along the coast to view the jagged rocks and cliffs before, with the crystal water crashing below. The trail is surrounded by an open field here, with a small bench near the cliff to relax. At the end of the trail, you can look to the north and see the downtown area of Mendocino.

The trail is popular for its views, and many come here for whale watching, ocean viewing, or just taking in the natural vegetation. You'll also find plenty of special events going on here, like painters, weddings, and lots of events thanks to the open even area along the trail.

After taking in all the captivating scenery, a short walk down the hill will take you back to your car. The trail itself will certainly draw you and Fido back, thanks to its laid-back terrain, amazing views, and plenty of shade to relax under.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
