Heading out in Montana for a hike with your pawtastic friend? Why not check out the Parkside Ski Touring area in the town of Red Lodge? You can’t ask for a more versatile hike in the area, and your pup will be thrilled with all the choices this location has to offer.
Located in the Custer National Forest, in the central southern portion of the state, you can pick up the trailheads for this late spring, summer and early fall hike at the Red Lodge Mountain Ski Area. Park at the lot for the Red Lodge Mountain Resort, grab your leash and off you guys go!
The Parkside Ski Touring area opens its beginner trails up during the off-ski season to hikers. These pup-friendly trails are perfect for taking your fur-ever friend on a hike through beautifully groomed paths that meander at an elevation of approximately 7000 feet. You will be transported into open spaces and forested areas, all with spectacular views of the surrounding area and the Absnoka-Beartooth Wildnerness mountain peaks.Â
With a total of 8.10 miles of hiking paths, your fur-ever friend will not know when to stop or which trail to choose! Being just outside the boundary of Yellowstone National Park means photographic opportunities abound at every turn. You can enjoy the paths which are easy on the paws. Even the new pup hiker will be excited to join in the fun!
Restrooms and water can be found at the lodge. Please keep this hike pup-friendly and open to hikers by cleaning up after Fifi and properly disposing of your trash. Packing out what you pack in is essential here. Also, please keep your pup on leash because this is a wilderness area and wildlife predominates here.
Parkside Ski Touring is your ticket to fun in the great state of Montana.
