Description

Peeler Park Greenway is a fun, scenic multi-purpose trail that’s great for walks with your pup. This paved loop trail is 1.9 miles in total, and dogs are welcome to join you on the trail on-leash.

The greenway begins near the entrance to Peeler Park on Neelys Bend Road, and parking is available right next to the trailhead. There’s also a public boat launch and a few benches available by the trailhead—the perfect place to relax with your dog after you’ve finished your hike!

The first part of the Peeler Park Greenway takes you through a scenic open field. If you’d like, you can go for an on-leash run with your pup through this field! After that, you’ll walk along the beautiful Cumberland River. You’ll also pass through a hardwood forest, and you’ll go by a unique swamp. You’ll also go by Taylor Farm, which is home to beautiful rolling farmland.

Peeler Park Greenway is also great for birdwatching—some of the birds that live near the trail include Northern cardinals, Carolina wrens, winter wrens, blue herons, blue jays, and Ruby-crowned kinglets. Make sure to bring some binoculars with you to help you spot all these pawesome bird species.

On your way back to the trailhead, you’ll pass lots more interesting sights, including an airfield where many people fly remote-controlled planes. If you’d like to extend your hike, Peeler Park has 3.5 miles of unpaved hiking trails, and the majority of the trails are accessible from the Peeler Park Greenway. These trails take you through beautiful woodland areas, and they also provide great views of the Cumberland River.

Peeler Park Greenway is a picturesque trail that you and your dog are both sure to love. Be sure to bring water and doggy bags with you for your walk, and have a pawesome time hiking on this trail!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
