Description

When you are looking for a great place to hike and an adventure to boot, check out the Perry Lake Trail in Ozawkie, Kansas. This trail is located in the northeastern portion of the state and is easily accessible from many of the large cities nearby.

To begin your journey, you will start at the main trailhead in the Slough Creek Public Use area, situated in the campground. It continues for a whopping 30 miles throughout the scenic beauty of the state. This loop trail will take you and your fur-ever friend on a journey along the banks of Perry Lake on the western portion of your hike and along the Slough Creek on the eastern portion. Only foot traffic is allowed here.

The terrain varies depending on location, however the southern parts of the trail are rated as easy whereas the northern sections can become quite rugged. The entire length of the trail is shaded by trees, so you and your pup will stay comfortable, even in the summer. Most pup-abilities will have no trouble throughout this single-line footpath composed mostly of dirt and rock.

Fido is allowed off leash throughout your outdoor adventure. Be sure to take advantage of various swimming holes either in the lake or along the river where they can splash and swim. A cool pup is a happy pup! The outstanding scenery of the area must be captured, so don’t forget your camera. A selfie with them is essential!  Also, pack plenty of water and food, if you intend to hike the entire distance or even a portion thereof. A leash is a good idea to include as well, just in case you spot some of the local wildlife crossing your path.

Perry Lake Trail is your ticket to a pawtastic adventure in Kansas.
