Description

Saint Perpetua Trail is a picturesque trail that features stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and a unique coastal forest. This pawesome out-and-back trail is 1.5 miles long, and dogs are welcome to join you on-leash.

Saint Perpetua Trail’s trailhead is located at the Cape Perpetua Day Use Area. There are restrooms here, but drinking water isn’t available, so be sure to bring a bottle or two with you. The trail starts in a beautiful coastal forest, and the first part includes a steep incline that takes you up about 700 feet. As you walk on this part of this trail, you’ll go through a series of switchbacks.

After that, the trail takes you onto a meadow with furrific views of the ocean and the cliffs lining the water. On a clear day, you can see about 150 miles down the coast. There are also lots of lovely wildflowers in the meadow, including blue camas, catillejas, and lupines, making this a snifftastic adventure for Fido!

When you get to the end of the trail, you’ll reach a lookout that was built by the Coast Guard in World War II. Here, you and your dog can relax and enjoy the views of Cape Foulweather and Cape Blanco before you head back down to the start of the trail.

After your hike, you and your pup can go for a picnic together at Cape Perpetua Day Use Area’s scenic picnic pavilion. You can also head onto the beach and explore the many tide pools in the area. Be sure to look out for sneaker waves while you’re on the beach.

Saint Perpetua Trail is a beautiful coastal trail with amazing views that you and your dog will both love. Bring doggy bags so you can clean up after your pup while you’re hiking, and have a great time trekking on this trail!
