Description
Nashville, Tennessee hosts a large network of parks and greenways to help residents get around easily between communities and downtown, and provide places for Nashvillians and their fur-babies to find convenient access to safe outdoor exercise. The Seven Mile Creek Greenway is about .6 mile long and meanders through barktiful, scenic woodland and fields that border the Seven Mile Creek. The trailhead is in Whitfield Park, which offers plentiful parking and is open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. At the park, you'll find water and restrooms, so be sure to fill up your water bottle here. Also, bring along some clean up bags for the journey.

This is a multi-use trail that permits bicycles on its asphalt track, and while bikes are supposed to yield to pup-destrians and announce their approach, don't count on others to keep you and your doggo safe. Stay to the side, and walk on the outside edge of the trail.

At the end of the Seven Mile Creek Trail is the Ellington Agricultural Complex, which boasts a number of dirt track trails. A bridge crossing the Creek will take you there, if you're not ready to turn and make your way back to Whitfield Park just yet. Ellington's 3 miles of trails are pawsome for walking and exploring.

The sound of birdsong will accompany you on the Seven Mile Creek Trail and Fido will have many near-encounters with the small beasts that live here: rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels. Near the edge of the Creek, you'll likely find some amphibians, as well. Barkiful wildflowers abound, and the smell of honeysuckle fills the air, though the trail can be a bit buggy. Don't forget your insect repellant, and protection for your pup too!

While not a lengthy adventure, exploration of the area around Seven Mile Creek will be an experience you and your wing-dog won't soon furrget!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
