If you and your pup are experienced hikers and are looking for a great trail to take an adventure, you should check out the Signal Mountain Trail, #928-2, in Bellevue, Colorado! You will love sharing some time together in this amazing wilderness.
You can find this exciting trailhead on Pingree Park Road, approximately 1 ½ miles after you pass the intersection of Buckhorn Road. There are 4 parking spots here where you can leave your car. Pack up your pup and your supplies, including water and clean up bags, and head to the trailhead, which will be on the left side of the road.
Now you are ready for a pawtastic hike! The trail runs for 14.9 miles through the wilderness and is pup-friendly! This out-and-back trail is rated as difficult. The first several miles of the trail follow along Pennock Creek, and then the real ascent begins. Your pup will love going through the many water crossings, and you will enjoy the views of not only the creek, but lush green meadows, and of course, the summit of Signal Mountain with its sweeping views of Estes Park in the distance. Along your puptastic hike, you will encounter Lookout Mountain Trail, which branches off Signal Mountain Trail.Â
There are elk and black bear present in this area, so it is important to always keep your furry friend on leash throughout your visit. Camping is allowed along this trailhead, but no motorized vehicles are permitted. The trail is best hiked between March and October, and sometimes requires snowshoes, even during those months of the year.
