Description

The Stones River Greenway is a pawsome dog-friendly trail that should be on the radar of every dog-and-human duo living in or visiting Nashville. Not only is the trail well-maintained and scenic, with plenty of easy parking options and amenities, it connects two of the best dog parks in Nashville! Wherever you start your adventure on the Stones River Greenway, you'll be able to get to a dog park in five miles or less. The journey there will take you over many scenic bridges and boardwalks where you'll be shaded by trees and surrounded by the sounds of the river.

The ten-mile Stones River Greenway follows the rolling course of the Stones River from its southern trailhead at the Percy Priest Dam to the Cumberland River Pedestrian Bridge, where it connects with the Shelby Bottoms Greenway. The southern trailhead is part of a larger project called the Percy Priest Trailhead and Dog Park. You'll find the start of the trail right where the dog park ends. The scenic 2.5-acre dog park is located right underneath the impressive 130-foot-tall Percy Priest Dam. It has an expansive lawn where dogs have plenty of room to run, as well as a new building with clean human bathrooms and seasonal concessions.

The next major trailhead on the Stones River Greenway is located at a scenic bend of the river three miles north at Stone Hall, the site of a beautiful historic building and park. The trail continues past the Ravenwood property, an old golf course that is being converted to a city park, and through the simple open lawns of Heartland Park, where many local kids go to play soccer. It ends at Two Rivers Park, a large city park with many amenities. Two Rivers Dog Park is Nashville's largest dog park, with seven fenced-in acres where dogs can run through endless rolling lawns shaded by mature trees. It's a great place to start or end your journey along the Stones River Greenway.

Whether you want to spend time at a dog park, have a picnic, or simply enjoy a nice long walk along the river, the Stones River Greenway is a great place to plan a perfect day with your dog.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
