There are many different entrances for the Tidal Basin Trail, including one on Independence Avenue and one on Maine Avenue. The Maine Avenue entrance is home to the Tidal Basin Welcome Area, which has parking and information about the basin.

As you walk in a loop around the Tidal Basin, you’ll pass lots of interesting sights. One of the things the Tidal Basin is most famous for is its cherry blossoms. These trees are stunning when they bloom in spring. The Tidal Basin is also home to a ten-foot Japanese lantern, which was gifted the United States from Japan in 1954.

You’ll also walk by plenty of monuments as you go along the paved path. This includes the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, a beautiful memorial with different outdoor rooms to explore. These rooms feature information about different periods of FDR’s life, and one of the rooms also has a picturesque waterfall. Pups will be excited to see the sculpture dedicated to FDR’s dog, Fala!

The Tidal Basin Trail also passes by the towering granite Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and it goes by the bronze Thomas Jefferson Memorial. You’ll also walk by the Kutz Memorial Bridge, which honors Brig. Gen. Charles W. Kutz. Be sure to take your time as you’re walking—you’ll won’t want to miss any of these great sights!
