Description

Is your pup needing to spend some quality outdoor time with you? Check out the Willamette River Trail in the city of Corvallis, Oregon. Located in the central-west portion of the state, this trail offers you and your puptastic pup a wonderful 3.23-mile hike!

It winds through a variety of features, all beginning in Willamette Park, such as sports fields, a kiddie playground and through a couple of area neighborhoods. Whether you are looking for a paved trail or natural surface for your hike, this trail gives you both and stays along the banks of the Willamette River. There is a place to put in boats and plenty of benches to sit and relax and rest pup’s tired paws!

If your pup is a water lover, take him for a splash in the many out-of-the-way places you will find alongside the river. Your pup must be kept on leash throughout your hike, but will love cooling themselves just the same. You will also have many landscape changes from forests to meadows along the way. This makes for a scenic and ever-changing walk you will never tire of, and your pup will always have new things to explore. Because this trail runs alongside water, it attracts plenty of wildlife, so be sure to pack a camera and binoculars for your hike.

There are restrooms in the park with drinking fountains and clean up facilities for your pup. An off-leash dog park is also located here, perfect for letting Fido run as a treat for finishing your hike. Be advised that Oregon has many days of rain, so plan accordingly. Towels and rain gear are a great addition to your hiking backpack.

Make sure Willamette River Trail is your first stop for hiking in the great state of Oregon.

Cautions & Considerations

The unpaved portion of the trail can become muddy during the rainy season. There are also some instances when parts of the trail can become impassible due to high river-water levels.
