Located in the Dillon Nature Center, the Woodard Nature Path offers a pup-friendly stroll in the great outdoors. Pick up this National Recreational trailhead at the entrance to the nature center where you will also find restrooms and drinking fountains. The Center is a National Urban Wildlife Sanctuary and offers over 33 acres of land for your enjoyment.
The path is 5 feet wide and made of crushed rock. This out-and-back trail meanders through the area for 3 miles. There is also an inner loop trail which separately runs for just over 1 mile. Either one will offer you and your pup excellent footing in all types of weather and a level path suitable for all fitness level pups!
Other amenities at the trailhead include a butterfly garden and a prairie dog ‘town’ which you can both enjoy viewing. The trails meander through native habitats of 300 species of trees, shrubs and wildflowers and include informational tags along the way, pointing out specific species and points of interest. Fido is allowed on leash throughout, but be sure to clean up after them to keep this park pup-friendly and pawtastic! The center is open every day except national holidays, and the trails are maintained year-round for your hiking pleasure. These are single-use trails, so no bicycles are allowed but they are handicapped accessible.
