Wag! Walkers know Chinatown
Chinatown is a cultural and historic neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, situated in the central business district. Boston's Chinatown district is the third largest of its kind in the U.S. and attracts many tourists and locals to its unique businesses and sites. The community is known for its ethnic restaurants, bakeries, and shops which are located in a highly walkable area. Surrounding streets are packed with theatres, nightlife, hotels, retail shops, and other services that are within reach for residents of the area.

If you want an eatery to visit with your dog, check out the South Street Diner which offers a dog-friendly patio and is located just a few blocks southeast of the Chinatown area.

Dog walkers and their pups should be prepared for cold, snowy weather in the winter and wet weather throughout the year.  A warm coat and waterproof jacket will keep you and your pup mobile no matter what the weather offers. When very severe thunderstorms occur, you will want to postpone your outings.
What is the terrain like in Chinatown?
Chinatown is a cultural and ethnic enclave centrally located in Boston. It is a highly urban developed neighborhood with high rise buildings, multi-story and low rise structures, trafficm and commercial activity. Although not heavily landscaped, there are a few trees along streets and some small green spaces in and around the region.
The terrain is flat and you and your dog won't have to hike up hills to get around or share the road with traffic as sidewalks are prevalent in the area. This area is undergoing gentrification and development and the once low-rise buildings are in danger of being replaced by high rise towers. Efforts to preserve the historic architecture of the area are taking place.
A unique feature of the area n is the Chinatown Gate located on the east side of the neighborhood which features two lions on each side of the entrance. Chinatown is not far from Boston's waterfront and commercial and industrial activities located there.
How many greenways are there in Chinatown?
For Chinatown canines, the nearest dog park is the Carleton Court Dog Park which is located about a 10-minute drive to the west. This off-leash dog park is not very large, but is an attractive play space and popular with central Boston pups and people.

The Rose Kennedy Greenway-Chinatown Park is situated at the Chinatown Gate on the east side of the neighborhood. This park has an open plaza with some trees and seating areas. To the south, the Mary Soo Hoo Park has a more heavily treed green space to visit with your pup for some relief from summer heat in a shady location.

Also in Chinatown is the Reggie Wong Memorial Park which features basketball courts and a row of trees by the sidewalk, providing some shade. The Atlantic Avenue Plantings on the east side of the area is a beautifully treed strip along the sidewalk on this main thoroughfare, creating a beautiful place to walk with your pet.
