The terrain in Upham Corner-Jones Hill is hilly with lots of up and downhill sections to contend with when walking your dog in the area. Grades are not overly steep, however, and most people and pets can get around without too much difficulty.
This is a very attractive neighborhood with mature shade trees and beautifully landscaped properties along curving, hilly roads that create a beautiful backdrop for daily constitutionals with your furry friend. Pedestrian sidewalks sit along streets, meaning you and your pup won't have to share the road with traffic. Homes in the area have interesting historic architecture and consist of detached, semi-detached, and low rise apartment buildings.
Ronan Park is located a few blocks south and features an off-leash dog area that provides 6,000 square feet of fenced-in, off-leash play area for your furry friend. Dog owners are limited to three dogs at a time and your pup must be current on vaccinations, licensed, and supervised at all times. Dog owners are expected to clean up after their pets in a sealed waste bag before disposing of it in trash bins. There are also restrictions on young children and puppies under four months of age. Aggressive dogs are not permitted and people are discouraged from bringing food or drink into the park.
The South Boston Bark Park to the northeast is about a 10-minute drive. This enclosed, gated dog park is open from 6AM to 8PM. Dogs must be licensed, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Dog owners are expected to supervise and clean up after their pets and remove dogs behaving aggressively or disruptively.
