The North End of the Boston Waterfront District is located centrally in Boston, Massachusetts. This highly commercial tourist area features waterfront wharves and marinas along the harbor and is a popular tourist destination. Seafood restaurants, hotels, shops, and a host of services catering to tourists and residents are present in the neighborhood. Businesses are distributed throughout the region, usually at street level and highly concentrated along the waterfront area. The community is highly walkable and residents will have no problem walking to local eateries with world-renowned seafood offerings or accessing convenience stores, theatres, and retail shops.
The weather for walking this coastal location can be wet, especially in winter. Although the waterfront rarely experiences temperatures below freezing, winter storms with snow do occur. If you are traveling the neighborhood with your pup, you can check out the unique local doggie bakery located in North End. The Polka Dog Bakery offers specialty treats for your pooch!
The Rose Kennedy Greenway is a one of a kind greenway. Extending south from North End Waterfront, it connects to a series of parks in the area and contains local food kiosks, unique works of art, fountains, and even a carousel. Dogs are welcome, but must remain leashed and cleaned up after. Wharves along the waterfront are connected by paved pedestrian paths and locals can enjoy a walk along the waterfront with cool breezes off the water. Check for local regulations regarding access by your canine companion as some areas may not be accessible.
The Richmond Street Ruff Dog Park provides an off-leash facility for your dog to play with other canines in a safe enclosed area. Several other North End parks and plazas contain trees and seating areas with paved paths to stroll with your dog for some shade and relaxation. These include Charter Street Park, Cutillo Park, Rachel Revere Square, North Square Park and Paul Revere Mall.
