Clason Point is a neighborhood formed into a peninsula by the East River and the Bronx River. This neighborhood offers lots of green space along the water, including Soundview Park and Clason Point Park.
Homes in Clason Point tend to be single family homes with small fenced yards. Most homes are only one or two stories. In most areas, there is little or no divider between sidewalk and street. Some areas have more tree cover and a more extensive divider than others, but in general, you will find yourself alternating between walking your dog on a loose leash and keeping her at a closer heel throughout most of this neighborhood.
For the most extensive exploration with your dog, head towards one of the beautiful parks that this neighborhood has to offer. Walks along the natural shoreline will be very pleasant even on the hottest days as you enjoy the breezes coming off the river.
You will tend to keep your dog on a close leash walking through most of the neighborhood streets of Clason Point, but there are several large parks available where you can let your dog walk on a loose leash and enjoy playing frisbee or fetch.
Soundview Park is a huge park that has ball fields and amphitheaters along with wide, grassy and natural forested areas. Such a diverse park will offer your dog lots of opportunities for new experiences and is the perfect place to expose your growing puppy to new environments and terrains. The rocky shoreline offers all kinds of new discoveries and creates a challenging surface for your dog to navigate. Be careful to keep your puppy’s safety in mind and help her with a well-fitted harness and limit her from wandering into dangerous situations. The extensive trails are perfect for you to be on wheels with your dog.
Clason Point provides access to some lovely green areas for you to explore. Soundview Park is a huge natural park that borders the Bronx River. While there are also well maintained grassy areas and ball fields in this park, there is enough natural forest to support a fair amount of interesting wildlife. The proximity to the Bronx River especially makes it likely for you to spot interesting bird life, especially in the morning and evening.
Your dog will love exploring the natural smells and navigating the terrain along the river, while you enjoy the soothing cool breezes coming off it on hot New York days. On the other side of Clason Point, Clason Point Park provides dense, natural tree cover around a narrow creek coming off of the Bronx River. This is a very natural environment in which you will have a great chance of seeing interesting wildlife with your dog.
