Situated on the North Shore of Staten Island, Randall Manor is one of five boroughs in New York City. Named after Captain Robert Richard Randall who founded Sailors Snug Harbour, the neighborhood has a sea to the north. With a population of over 60,000 and many being dog owners, there’s a range of amenities around from dog sitting to grooming, training, and more!
Although mostly residential, Randall Manor is also home to some green spaces and a coastal area that’s perfect for walking your dog along. Having the sea close by also means fresh air for both you and your dog which is guaranteed to wake you up before a day at work. In the summer months, it also makes for some spectacular views.
The climate in Randall Manor ranges from 28 degrees Fahrenheit to 86 degrees. Although there is some rain and wind, it’s an ideal temperature for many breeds. Essentially, it’s not too cold or hot for most pooches.
Randall Manor is home to a great many streets, houses, and shops. Perhaps unsurprisingly then, it’s mostly flat terrain. This is fantastic news for dog owners as it means people of all ages and abilities should be able to walk their dog with ease. With that said, if you head north to the coast, the terrain does get a little more hilly and uneven. But really, this just gives dog walks some added variety. Plus, most dogs love bounding around natural spaces with an interesting array of smells and tastes.
The large botanical garden and other green spaces are mostly flat. As a result, the neighborhood’s terrain is the same, but there are some spaces which are a little more natural. However, both new dog owners and veterans are likely to feel comfortable.
Overall, Randall Manor promises a fantastic mix of close-by amenities and natural, fresh spaces for both you and your pooch to enjoy.
Randall Manor is excellent in terms of green spaces. Firstly, a short walk north and you will arrive at the sea. Along the water is a large green space that you can take your dog to. This spot doesn’t get overcrowded too often, allowing your pooch to really let off some steam! Unsurprisingly, the fresh sea air also attracts other dog walkers. This means you can stop and chat as you go about your stroll. It also means Fido gets the opportunity to interact and socialize with other dogs.
If you live towards the south of Randall Manor then your closest dog-friendly green space is Allison Pond Park. This beautiful park has water, trees, flowers, and everything needed for a delightful stroll with your canine pal. If you’re in the southeast of the neighborhood, in particular, Allison Pond Park is the perfect spot for before-work walks or if you’re short on time.
