Winters are cool and wet and sometimes snowy although snow rarely stays for long as daytime temperatures usually climb above the freezing mark, even in the winter.

There are some single-family homes and many duplexes, row houses, and apartments in the region. Many homes have historic architecture and there are some ornate, single-family homes with unique features that provide an interesting backdrop on neighborhood strolls with your pooch.

Many roads are narrow as this area has a long history of development and is densely populated with homes on smaller properties. The area is heavily landscaped with beautiful yards, mature shade trees, shrubs, lawns, and gardens which provide plenty of greenery in the district. There are some gentle inclines but no large steep hills that would be difficult for dog walkers or their pets to navigate.
