Upper Boggy Creek is a neighborhood located in East Austin, Texas, also referred to as Cherrywood. This area has a variety of commercial activities. Businesses are located along the interstate and include typical fast food and chain shops, however, some unique restaurants, cafes, and music venues are also present, especially in the area along Manor Road. Art studios and artisans have set up shops in former residential buildings in the area which makes Upper Boggy Creek a more walkable district.

Warm spring and fall weather is ideal for walking in Austin and mild winters mean that bulky outerwear and heavy coats are not necessary to enjoy walks with your canine companion. Summers are very hot and the high temperatures should be avoided by dog owners and their pets. Schedule walks for early in the morning or later in the evening so you and your pet do not get overheated. Remember to check weather forecasts for thunderstorms.

Upper Boggy Creek is a triangular shaped neighborhood with Airport Boulevard on the east, E Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on the south, and Interstate 35 on the northwest. A train track transects the neighborhood and the tracks and interstate are not pedestrian-friendly locations for walking your dog. These areas should only be crossed at designated pedestrian crossings.

The neighborhood has a quiet, suburban-like feel. Homes are moderate in size, mainly ranch and bungalow styles, with well-landscaped properties and tree-lined streets. There are hilly sections and walks in the Upper Boggy Creek area involve climbing some hills.

Many residential streets do not have sidewalks. Dog walkers who find themselves sharing roads with vehicles should walk facing traffic and keep an eye out for vehicles. Commercial areas around the highway lack landscaping with large parking lots and traffic and are not designed for pedestrian travel. Residential areas make better locations for walking with your pet.
