North Beacon Hill is a neighborhood of southeast Seattle, Washington. It is only a one-minute commute from this neighborhood to the downtown central business district. Locals of the north Beacon Hill area can walk to local businesses which include restaurants, shops, and other services along Rainier Avenue and Beacon Avenue.

Local establishments of interest to pet owners include the Atlantic Veterinary Hospital and two pet-friendly eateries that allow pets on their patio: Baja Bistro and Perihelion Brewery.

When traveling this region on foot with your pup, you will need good rain gear as precipitation frequently occurs throughout the year. Winters have cool temperatures and a warmer jacket will be required for outings. Fortunately, snow and extended periods with sub-freezing temperatures are rare, however, when freezing rain or snow does occur, icy conditions make walking and driving treacherous. Exercise extra caution on these days to ensure that you don't get hurt.

North Beacon Hill has a large golf course on its south end and treed greenways along its west and southeast borders. Most of the neighborhood provides a developed urban residential setting. Dwellings are predominantly single-family detached homes on attractive, green, and well-landscaped properties. There are also apartment buildings and condominium complexes in the community.

Sidewalks are prevalent in the area, so you should not have to share the road with local traffic when walking with your dog. Interstate 9 is situated on the north side and Interstate 5 is on the west. These busy freeways create an impediment to on foot travel and should only be crossed at elevated thoroughfares. Main roads in the area may have bike lanes. so watch out for two-wheeled traffic when crossing the road.

The west side of the neighborhood is not too hilly, but the landscape slopes dramatically to the east. Steep grades can create a problem for people and pets with mobility issues.

The north side of North Beacon Hill is home to Dr. Jose Rizal Park, Lewis Park, Daejeon Park, and Sturges Park. Dr. Jose Rizal Park has over nine acres of wooded space with an off-leash dog park at the base of the hill. There is a small enclosed dog area if you are concerned about your dog making a run for it and a larger area to play with your pup if they have good recall. Lewis Park and Sturges Park have wooded areas and Daegon Park features a Korean-style pagoda.

A recreational park is situated adjacent to the golf course on the south side. Jefferson Park has sports fields, basketball and tennis courts, a skate park, restrooms, and drinking fountains. Walking paths in the park are a good place for canines and their owners to take a stroll!

A few blocks to the northeast is the Blue Dog Pond dog park which has an enclosed off-leash area not far from North Beacon Hill.
