South Beach Dachshund Winterfest is a fun social event focused on this most charismatic and adorable of canines, but dogs of all breeds are welcome to attend. Highlights of the day include doggy activities, a Dachshund funhouse, and a grand march! Doggy Fun Fest and Struttin' For Strays
What do you get when you combine two grrr-eat dog-friendly events into one day? You get more fun than you can wag a tail at — that’s what! Doggy Fun Fest is a popular annual celebration of our furry friends and all the things that make them such wonderful companions. Held at Jaco Pistorious Park in Oakland Park, this family festival features live music, kids’ activities, pet adoptions, Notschund races, a play zone for dogs, and heaps more. To top things off, the festival is preceded by Struttin’ For Strays, a 1.25-mile stroll down NE 12th Avenue for pets and their humans. The walk raises much-needed funds for a host of local rescue groups, so grab your pet and start strutting!

Walk for the Animals
Every March, the Humane Society of Broward County hosts its annual Walk for the Animals! This ever-popular and much-anticipated event takes place at Huizenga Plaza in Fort Lauderdale, and it raises funds to help the society provide shelter, aid, and responsible adoptions to the animals in its care. The 1.25-mile walk draws thousands of dog lovers and their furry friends, plus the event also features dozens of sponsor booths stocking goodies for your pooch, live entertainment, and a kids’ zone for young walkers. There’s no registration fee needed to participate, but this is the Humane Society of Broward County’s largest fundraising event of the year, so everyone is encouraged to raise funds!
Doggie Palooza
A whole day of fun for you, your furry friend, and plenty of other dog lovers? Sounds pretty good, huh? That’s the basic premise of Doggie Palooza, a dog-friendly festival that takes place in Plantation in January. This doggy day out is jam-packed with a host of fun activities for dogs and their people! There are contests to determine the best-dressed dog, best trick, and best dog and owner look-alikes, as well as adoptable animals from local rescue groups and vendors selling a wide variety of pet products. The entry fee of $2 per person benefits a selected local rescue organization.
