Just south of the Lake Monroe neighborhood, you and your pup can visit the Park on Park! This neighborhood’s park has a playground, benches to lounge on, and shelters to sit and picnic, with restrooms and plenty of water fountains. So, pack snacks for you and your pup, bring a blanket to lay out on the green space and enjoy a relaxing day with your best friend! Or for some off-leash fun, take your pup to the Paw Park Dog Park with its lighted, separate large and small play areas, doggy drinking fountains and their own doggie wash! Be sure to leave this park clean as a whistle!

Rantoul

Trailblazer Park is a great park in the Rantoul neighborhood in the city of Lake Mary, south of Lake Monroe. Here you will find a pavilion, shady picnic tables, exercise stations to keep fit, playgrounds, climbing rock walls, and restrooms with water fountains. Be sure to keep Fido leashed though at this park! There is also a splash pad for children to cool off! When hunger strikes, try the nearby Flippers for brick-oven pizza, or Lonnie’s Fusion Cuisine for international fare. Finish the day with a cup of tea at Royal’s English Tea Room, where pups are welcome at their outdoor patio tables!

The Vistas

The city of DeBary is located just north of Lake Monroe, and within it lies The Vistas neighborhood. Here you will find the Gemini Springs Dog Park, where your pup can play to his heart’s delight on this 4.5 acre fenced playground. Located inside Gemini Springs Park, this dog park boasts two fenced sections for small and large dogs. Rover can cool himself in the shady areas, and owners can take home a clean dog after playtime using their puppy wash stations! Doggie fountains, people benches, picnic tables, restrooms and waste stations are all right here. Be sure to bring a picnic lunch though!

Hidden Lake East

The Hidden Lake East neighborhood of Sanford south of Lake Monroe is home to the pawtastic Lake Dot Park which is dedicated to relaxation on its 15 acres. This park encircles Lake Dot for some great walking areas to enjoy. Next, try Lee P. Moore Park which is full of fitness trails to keep you both in shape, green open spaces, sports fields and picnic tables. Restrooms and water are located here. Hungry yet? Fire up the provided grill for a burger or two, or grab a bite at nearby Caffe Positano for their fresh-fare cuisine where pup-friendly outdoor tables await!

Sylvan Lake

The Sylvan Lake neighborhood of Sanford is home to the Black Bear Wilderness Area where there are two fabulous places to take your pup for a hike. The trailhead here has a dedicated two-mile roundtrip path winding its way in the shade of the area's trees to an overlook on the St. John's River. For the more experienced pawtastic pup hiker, try the Black Bear Wilderness Loop Trail which works its way up hill, and then down for over 7 miles. This is a moderate-to-hard rated terrain, which offers a river breeze, but plan accordingly and be sure to pack food, plenty of water and clean-up bags.
