Fort Mountain State Park is just a 20-minute drive away from the center of Chatsworth. Here, you’ll find hiking trails that show off the remarkable views of Fort Mountain. The Fort Mountain Lake Trail, for example, is pawfect for Fido! Along with 1.1 miles of short, mostly flat trails, you can enjoy a lush green tunnel that flourishes beautifully in the spring. For overnight stays, you can pitch a tent in one of the campgrounds, but be sure pups stay on a leash shorter than 6 feet while in the park.

Here, you can enjoy plenty of outdoor activities with your pups while reveling in the breathtaking canyon views that give the park its name. Camp on a hemlock grove, discover waterfalls and hike up to 1,900 feet with your favorite furry friend. This incredibly popular Georgia state park is family-friendly, and you can even rent a pet-friendly cabin! Keep your vacation going with a trip down to Rising Fawn for a culture-rich town named for the child of the area's former Cherokee chieftain.

Just 10 minutes outside of Atlanta and about 50 miles away from Chatsworth is the private community district of Big Canoe. This prestigious mountain society consists of a gated association sandwiched between the Sconti, Disharoon, and Petit Lakes. This hidden area is flush with furrific views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains. With tons amenities for its residents and year-round visitors, Big Canoe has plenty to offer – including two dog parks! These fully-stocked parks, like the Wildcat Dog Park, provide separate areas for large and small dogs so that they can play comfortably. You can also leash up and explore over 20 miles of hiking trails within Big Canoe, along with tons of other activities!

Georgia is flush with spectacular sights nestled away in the dozens of parks throughout the state. As its name suggests, Amicalola Falls State Park is revered for its phenomenal waterfall, which spans over 729 feet tall – making it the biggest waterfall in the Southeast. To see the waterfall, visitors must hike 7.5 miles from Springer Mountain, but it is well worth it! Plus, Fido is always welcome, but be sure to keep them on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Amicalola Falls also marks the southernmost point of the Appalachian Trail, which is a National Scenic Trail spanning over 2,200 miles throughout the East Coast.
