Beaverdale

Beaverdale

Beaverdale is a northwestern neighborhood of Des Moines with a dog-friendly atmosphere and a strong sense of community. The area includes residential quarters, two public parks and a few secret places at Beaver Avenue where tail-waggers are loved and cherished! This is the main commercial center in the area, offering shops and eateries for locals and visitors. Visit Micheal’s Pizza where the tasty and fat slices of hot and freshly made pizza are served with a dog-friendly attitude and a free bowl of water for every furry visitor! And, if your buddy has destroyed his favorite toy recently (but it wasn't him, it was neighbor’s dog, for sure!), you can pick up a few more (just in case) in Bone-A-Patreat, offering a wide range of toys and treats for your mischievous pup!

South Ames

South Ames

South Ames is not exactly a major tourist destination. Set off the main highway and close to the local airport, the area is not shining with beautiful shop windows or exquisite eateries, but it's happy to welcome your beautiful mutt in Ames Dog Park! Tucked more to the west, a few steps from local convenience stores and behind the city’s animal shelter, the park offers an amazing opportunity for your pooch to play and run off-leash in a 10-acre area, which is divided into separate sections for large and small breeds. Bring some water with you, and forget about the leash. Time for off-leash fun has begun!
