West Penn Street
This North Liberty neighborhood is home to a fun community park that allows dogs on-leash: Penn Meadows Park. This 37-acre park has a pedestrian trail that winds through the entire park. As you walk along this flat trail, you’ll pass the park’s playground, sports fields, and tennis courts. Bring water and doggy bags, and have a good time strolling through this park. If you’re hungry after the park, head over to Red’s Alehouse. This casual alehouse welcomes dogs on their huge outdoor patio. To eat, they serve classic bar fare, including burgers, flatbreads, wings, and more.

Liberty Centre
Liberty Centre is a mixed residential and commercial area with a furrific park pups are sure to love: Liberty Centre Park. The centerpiece of this park is Liberty Centre Pond, which has scenic features like a waterfall and pedestrian bridges. You and your pup can see all these sights and more on the paved path that goes around the pond. After the park, continue your fun day out with lunch at Bluebird Diner. This diner serves breakfast all day, and also offers delicious sandwiches and burgers for lunch and dinner. Pups are welcome to join you at Bluebird Diner’s four outdoor tables.

Peninsula Neighborhood
This mostly residential Iowa City neighborhood is home to a puptastic off-leash dog area, Thornberry Dog Park. Located eight miles from North Liberty, this dog park has separate areas for large and small dogs. It also has a special dog training area. The park also has a pond where dogs can swim or splash around, and it has a doggy playground. Bring water with you, and have a great time playing with your dog here! If you want to go on a longer stroll with your pup after the park, put their leash back on and take them on the Iowa River Trail. This trail is located right next to the dog park, and it offers amazing views of the Iowa River.

Iowa River Landing
When you’re in Iowa River Landing, you won’t want to miss Iowa River Landing Wetland Park! This park is just six miles from North Liberty, and it welcomes dogs on-leash. While you’re here, you and your dog can go for a walk on the park’s elevated walkways. These walkways go over three types of wetlands, and they also pass by a beautiful pond. You and your pup will both have fun exploring these unique wetlands! If you’re hungry after the park, head to Casa Azul. This restaurant serves delicious Mexican fare, including burritos, fajitas, and enchiladas. They welcome dogs on their outdoor patio.

Cedar Bend Lane SW
This residential Ely neighborhood has one great off-leash dog run, Cheyenne Park Off-Leash Area. This fenced dog park is located 23.5 miles from North Liberty, and its main area features a large field and trails where your dog can walk off-leash. There’s also a separate fenced area for small dogs, and the park has agility equipment for your pup, including hoops to jump through. If you or your dog get thirsty, water fountains for dogs and humans are available. Just don't forget to bring some doggie waste bags along. You and your dog will both have fun at this furrific park!
