Sure, Mount Prospect has its own dog park, but if you and Fido want to enjoy some fun in the sun, head into Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. Here, you'll find Montrose Dog Beach, located about 18 miles from Mount Prospect. This dog-friendly beach is the perfect place for swimming and playing in the sand. It is the first Chicago-based dog beach that is properly fenced. Poop bags are provided, as is a dog wash area where you can wash the sand out of your pup's fur before hopping back in the car and heading home. The beach is pretty large and there is a parking nearby. Since this beach is pawpular with the locals, you and your pup are sure to make some new friends here!

South Hinsdale

Katherine Legge Memorial Lodge Dog Park is about 24 miles from Mount Prospect, in South Hinsdale. This park provides an off-leash area that is safely enclosed so your pup can get some mutts-needed exercise. This large, grassy park has more than enough room for pups to run, play, and sniff out some new buddies! In this park, you can even find a little stream where your pup cool off on a hot summer day. The park is very clean and it’s the perfect place if you want to play some Frisbee with your pooch! Make sure to bring your own doggie waste bags with you to help keep this popular park as tidy as you found it.

South Lake Forest

Seventeen miles away from Mount Prospect, you'll find a dog park that your pup will fall head over paws for! Prairie Wolf Dog Park is located in South Lake Forest and encompasses a whopping 44 acres just for pooches to run and play! The great thing about this park is that it includes a pond where dogs can dip their paws and cool off on sunny days. The pond is fenced off from the rest of the park in case you don’t want your pup to get in. There are two small fenced areas for training as well. Prairie Wolf Dog Park is one of the largest dog parks in the area, so you'd be barking mad not to visit at least once!

Beck Lake

Beck Lake Dog Park is probably the closest off-leash park to Mount Prospect at a distance of merely 4 miles east This park is exactly the same size as Prairie Wolf Dog Park at 44 acres, and includes multiple trails and trees that provide shade. Your pooch can swim in the pond here, so be sure to pack a towel. If you want to train your pup, there are training enclosures within Beck Lake Dog Park. Multiple drinking fountains in the park provide fresh water, but you'll need to bring your own waste bags along. Be aware that you need a permit if you want to enter the park.

East Evanston

Moraine Dog Beach and Park is another furrific dog beach that Fido won't want to leave! This beach is located in East Evanston, just 14 miles east of Mount Prospect. If you want to visit this beach, you will have to register at the Heller Nature Center and provide proof of vaccinations. The beach is not that big, and it can get pretty crowded during the weekends, but it’s totally worth a visit! There is a hose with a shower by the parking lot so you can rinse off your fur baby before making the trip home. No one likes sandy car seats!
