Old Orchard Beach has a few amenities for you and your pup. Old Orchard Dog Park is located in Memorial Park on Heath Street. The dog park is made up of two fully fenced, grassy areas for dogs to run and play leash-free. Old Orchard Beach also has several restaurants which welcome you and your pup! Beach Bagel, located at Old Orchard Street, has a variety of bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and burgers. Dogs are welcome to sit with their person at the outdoor tables. Sunset Bar & Grill also allows dogs to dine with their people on a variety of burgers and sandwiches at the seating area on the lawn.

South Portland

South Portland

South Portland is twenty-seven miles north of Old Orchard Beach. Willard Beach gives a dog a chance to feel the ocean breeze and play in the surf with their human companions. This beach is located at Beach Street and Myrtle Avenue. During the off-season, from September 30 to May 1, dogs can run leash-free on the beach. During the rest of the year, dogs can be on the beach from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m and from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. They are not allowed at any other time. Need a place to stay? Doubletree by Hilton, located at 363 Maine Mall Road, welcomes two dogs of any size for no additional charge.

Wells

Wells

Wells is twenty-eight miles south of Old Orchard Beach. The small town of Wells offers people and their pups some ocean beaches to enjoy together. Wells Beach can be found at Mile Road and Atlantic Avenue. The beach is a 2.5-mile stretch of ocean, sand, and surf. Dogs are permitted on the beach on-leash from April 1 to June 15. During the peak season (June 16 to September 15), dogs must remain off the beach until 6 p.m. They’re allowed to play from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Drake’s Island, found at 200 Island Beach Road, offers more beachfront for a dog and a pup to explore together on-leash (except during the peak season).

Saco

Saco

Saco is just four miles south of Old Orchard Beach. Saco Dog Park is a simple, fully fenced area for dogs to run leash-free. Dogs have plenty of grass to roll around in here, and lots of room to run and romp to their heart's content. Human amenities are few in this dog park. A cut log may well have to serve as a seat for the human companion. After you're done at the dog park, grab some grub! FernLeaf Bakery & Coffee House, located at 20 Free Street, serves a variety of bakery goods, lunch, and dinner items. Dogs are welcome to dine with their people at the outdoor tables. 

Kennebunk

Kennebunk

Kennebunk is seventeen miles south of Old Orchard Beach. Kennebunk Dog Park attracts doggie visitors from all over, and for good reason! The dog park has two separate enclosures for dogs to run and socialize. One is set aside for the smaller or timid dogs. The surface of the dog park is covered with wood chips for better water absorption. There are a few pieces of agility equipment for extra fun. Water bowls, jugs of water, waste bags, and pooper scoopers are supplied by the dog park, so all you need to bring is Fido’s favorite toy. People have benches to sit on while supervising their furry friend. This dog park is free and open to the public.
