Oxford Ridge is a residential, family-friendly neighborhood located south of Bentonville. Residents of Oxford Ridge can walk to a small commercial area with shops and restaurants located in the northwest corner of the area. A large shopping and commercial area are situated northeast of the community as well, however, traffic and roadways in the areas can impede pedestrian travel, especially if your dog is with you. There are a couple of unique pet supply shops located a short drive away including Three Dog Bakery and Bandits Biscuits which have special treats for your spoiled pooch.

When walking your dog in Bentonville, summers can be very hot and you may want to take your dog out in the morning or evening to avoid soaring midday temperatures. Winters are relatively mild, dipping below freezing at night and returning to milder temperatures during the day, so you and your dog can enjoy daily walks all year-round.

Oxford Ridge is a newer residential subdivision with uniformly styled brick homes and well-manicured landscaping. Homes have large lawns, neat hedges, and young trees that will mature and produce shade in the future. The neighborhood has sidewalks and grassy berms to keep pedestrians and their pups safe and create a soft, cool walking surface for community canines. The district is surrounded by rural properties, large open spaces, natural areas, and trees that give the area a country residential feel. There is a golf course to the north, several school properties, and a community recreation area with basketball courts, a pool, and a playground. The Bentonville Community Centre has a unique circular driveway surrounding it and a lagoon.

The area is relatively flat with some gradually sloping inclines. Elevation changes are not steep or difficult to walk up or down, and do not usually present an issue to pedestrians walking their dogs in the neighborhood.

Wildwood Park is located on the northwest corner of Oxford Ridge. It is within walking distance for residents and provides 1.5 acres of recreational space. The park has lighted tennis courts, a playground, restrooms, a covered picnic pavilion, and a water fountain to combat the summer heat. There is even a station where you can dispose of doggy waste. There is a small ravine running through the park and an open area and paved paths around the perimeter where you can walk with your pooch.

The much larger Phillips Park is just a short drive to the northeast and provides 40 acres of recreational space with soccer, football, and baseball fields, a concession stand, playgrounds, restrooms, a picnic pavilion, and a playground. The park has both open areas and a treed natural area on its south side. Keep your dog leashed in the park, especially when games and sports activities are taking place and the park is busy.
