Even in the winter, you can run over to the store as winter weather in Bentonville is usually above freezing and only light outerwear is required for pedestrian travel. Summers can be very hot on sunny days in this part of Arkansas. If you are traveling on foot in the heat of the day, plan a shady route with grass to keep your pup's paws from getting too hot on the pavement and pack water for both of you.
Further to the east, the interstate and associated interchanges create a hazard for pedestrians and this area should be avoided when walking your dog. Homes in the area are large, brick, or stone construction with extensive lawns and mature trees. The area has a very green, cool feel that residents and their pets can appreciate on hot summer days.
A short 4-minute drive west will take residents to Memorial and Orchard Parks. Memorial Park has a large recreation area with athletic fields and a fitness trail. Orchard Park has open areas, a water feature, a pavilion, and an amphitheater. Both parks have restrooms and dog stations where you can dispose of dog waste. Most importantly, both parks provide access to the Razorback Greenway. This 36-mile greenway is a conglomeration of trails in Bentonville that runs roughly north-south. The trails provide access to numerous communities, retail and business areas, arts and entertainment areas, schools, and other parks. This greenway is an excellent place to walk your dog on a leash.
