Wag! Walkers know Lost Creek

The Lost Creek subdivision is in the rural area northwest of Jacksonville, Arkansas, about 3 miles from the City, or a 10 to 15-minute drive from central Jacksonville. Multiple services including shopping, veterinary care, pet supplies and groomers are available in the Jacksonville area and can be accessed via a short drive from Lost Creek.

Lost Creek is surrounded by natural area and undeveloped land, giving it a country feel. There are three large schools to the east of Lost Creek that provide schooling and recreational areas for residents. Jacksonville has lots of sunny days, more than the national average, however, it also gets more than its share of rainfall, so when it rains it pours! Be aware of the weather and bring a raincoat along on overcast days, just in case, so you and your pooch don't get soaked by an unexpected deluge. However, usually you can expect sunny, warm days in Jacksonville; winters are relatively mild and summers are hot!

What is the terrain like in Lost Creek?

The Lost Creek subdivision features large newer homes with large yards and young landscaping. While trees in residents' yards may not be as large due to the newness of the community, Lost Creek is surrounded by large trees from the surrounding natural and wilderness areas; the community has a very rural, park-like atmosphere. There is only one looping road in and out of the community, making it an exclusive, quiet neighborhood with only local traffic to contend with. Much of the neighborhood has sidewalks for pedestrians and their dogs, but some areas require you to walk on the roadway. Be sure to keep your dog safe on a leash, so he does not run unexpectedly in the path of a vehicle.

The community is built on some gently sloping terrain and there are some inclines when walking. Be prepared for a little bit of a climb depending on your direction and remember what goes up, must come down. A walk around this area is great for giving your dog a little bit of exercise and will necessitate a little bit of climbing, so wear good shoes.

How many greenways are there in Lost Creek?

The entire Lost Creek area is surrounded by undeveloped land, and very heavily treed, providing a beautiful natural area with plenty of greenspace adjacent to the community to walk with your dog. There are lots of natural trees and open areas for dog owners and their pooches to enjoy while walking and playing. Lost Creek Ravine runs to the west of the subdivision and there are natural trails and varied terrain in the area. Nearby country roads also provide quiet thoroughfares for walking your dog, but be sure to watch out for local traffic and be aware of private property in this rural neighborhood.

A short drive to the southeast in Jacksonville is the Jacksonville Dog Park, if you are looking for an opportunity to socialize with other owners and dogs in a safe, off-leash, fenced area. This dog park is maintained by the City of Jacksonville and provides facilities for cleaning up after your dog, a water station, and separate areas for large and small dogs.
