Wag! Walkers know Serrano Village
Serrano Village is a large neighborhood in the eastern part of El Dorado Hills, California which is a community area located 22 miles east of Sacramento. Serrano Village encompasses most of the homes east that surround Serrano Parkway which is a major road that connects Silva Valley Parkway to Bass Lake Road. It is a pleasant community with upscale homes and large property sizes.
The weather in El Dorado Hills is typical of many northern California towns which makes it a beautiful place to live throughout all four seasons. Its average temperatures in the summer normally have lows in the high 50s and highs in the upper 80s, making it a fairly mild area to walk and explore. There is little humidity in this area, so the air can be dry and warm, making it important to keep hydrated and venture in and out of shady areas as you walk.
What is the terrain like in Serrano Village?
The terrain in Serrano Village is not as hilly as many of the areas immediately surrounding it. Northern California is typically known for its rolling hills, especially with some coastal cities like San Francisco and many areas of El Dorado Hills continue in this tradition. However, Serrano Village is in one of the flatter parts of town where there are only a few mild inclines and hills that have more gradual slopes.
Serrano Village is a somewhat sectioned-off community from the rest of El Dorado Hills, meaning foot and street traffic won’t be bad except for during rush hour times. On roads that border the neighborhood such as Serrano Parkway and Silva Valley Parkway, there will be some light commuter traffic from some of the El Dorado Hills locals who are going to and from Sacramento, but this congestion won’t be much of an issue in the residential section of the neighborhood.
How many greenways are there in Serrano Village?
There are two main green areas within the borders of Serrano Village and several more within easy walking distance. Serrano Country Club is in the eastern part of the neighborhood and it is closed to the general public much of the time. Village Green Park, however, is located on the west side of the neighborhood and it has a large lawn area, a pond, several streams and waterfalls, walking paths, and a playground for children. It is located right next to a local Montessori school and is popular with both parents and dog walkers in the area.
Parkview Heights Park and Kalithea Park are both just a few blocks west of Village Green Park. They are both smaller and outside of the boundaries of Serrano Village, but they will provide some fresh green space for you and your dog to explore if you want to venture farther out into El Dorado Hills.
