The east side of Center City is dense with skyscrapers and commercial buildings. While it can be pleasant to walk through this area to grab a bite to eat outdoors, this is not the best part of the neighborhood for walking your dog on a loose leash. The east side, however, is a lovely place to walk in general. Large homes are set well back from the sidewalk behind beautifully landscaped yards. A nice sidewalk with a wide grassy divider will make you feel comfortable giving your pup a little bit of freedom on the leash.

Most streets are gently sloped, making them fun for biking or skateboarding as long as you have good control. If you want to feel confident having several blocks in a row without worrying about intersecting traffic, you can head either north or south to the streets bordering the country clubs and golf courses for long uninterrupted stretches of road.

There is plenty of green space around Center City, but you cannot access most of it with your dog since it is golf course. While the streets bordering these golf courses can be pleasant to explore, if you are looking for more natural exploration, you may have a bit of a drive. You can head north past the Los Angeles Country Club and head into the foothills here. The tops and the bottoms of the hills are largely populated, but there is lots of undeveloped area here for you to explore as well.

The lovely Stone Canyon Reservoir is not too far north and can provide striking views as well as some natural shoreline. By going south, you can find your way to the Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area and the many natural terrains offered by this park. Grassy fields offer a place for you to play a game of fetch on the flat ground.
