Central San Pedro is a well developed neighborhood, with plenty of buildings, parking lots, and roadways, but there is plenty of mature landscaping, both natural and cultivated The area is predominately flat with sidewalks making for easy, safe walking for pedestrians and their dogs. The area can be busy with traffic from local residents, people working and doing business in the area, and tourists accessing the waterfront and associated businesses. Watch out for vehicles when crossing roadways or entering and exiting parking lots across pedestrian walkways—visitors to the area may be distracted if they are unfamiliar with the area and not aware of pedestrians and pets. There are more businesses and varied terrain on main thoroughfares and towards the harbor. The San Pedro Waterfront Red Car line operates for 1.5 miles along the waterfront and attracts tourists to the area as well as the harbor itself.
