Culver West is located on the southwestern side of Los Angeles, not far from Marina Del Rey and Venice Beach. This well-situated neighborhood features residential homes and commercial businesses along main thoroughfares. Residents of the region can enjoy walking to and along main arteries to access services, restaurants, and shops, or enjoy quiet residential streets in the area. There are gardens and a park in the area which can be accessed on foot and residents with pets enjoy walking throughout the year.

California's sunny, hot weather makes walking pleasant when even winter months can get up into some surprisingly high temperatures. On hot summer days, you may want to consider walking your dog earlier or later in the day when the temperature cools down. Pack water for both of you and plan shady rest areas if you are walking on hot days. If you're lucky, cool breezes from the nearby coast will provide some respite from the heat.

This residential neighborhood has some busy main roads running through it at angles, with lots of commercial activity and businesses situated among them. Washington Boulevard and Washington Place have lots of traffic, so watch out while walking your dog along these thoroughfares for vehicles entering and exiting parking lots and at intersections to keep your dog safe.  Remember, cars often cannot see a low-to-the-ground dog, so keep your dog close to keep him out of harm's way.

The Culver West area is relatively flat with lots of sidewalks to make pedestrian travel easy. There are lots of single-family properties and homes south of Washington Boulevard as well as single-family homes, multifamily apartments, and townhouse complexes north of the main street. Both northern and southern residential areas feature plenty of mature landscaping in this highly developed area that provide shade to walkways that keep passerbys and their pets cooler on sunny, hot days.

The park even has a dedicated dog-friendly 'Pooch Path'. This park also has night-lighting, restrooms, indoor facilities, basketball and tennis courts, a playground, and picnic and barbecue areas.

Nearby Marina Del Rey and Venice Beach have walkways and a beach that is accessible to dogs if they are kept on a leash. Marina Del Rey and the beaches of the Pacific Ocean are only a short drive west for Culver West residents and their dogs. There is even an off-leash dog park at the north end of Venice Beach for your dog to enjoy some free play with new friends.
