Residential areas are interspersed with commercial developments that provide shopping and restaurants to local residents. There are several schools, parks, and the Petit Park Recreation Center that provide sports and recreation facilities and additional walking destinations for residents and their pooches. Several grooming salons, pet stores, and veterinary services are located within easy access of Granada Hills South so you can easily cover all your pet care and pampering bases nearby.
The weather is warm and dry; rain is infrequent and the weather is warm year round for walking. Temperatures can become uncomfortably high in the middle of the day, especially in the summer months, so be prepared with water, planned breaks, and doggie boots to protect your pup's toes from hot pavement!
The community varies with residents, schools, recreations areas, and businesses. Depending on your location there may or may not be separate pedestrian walkways alongside roadways. Keep your dog leashed and, if possible, plan excursions in the community where there are sidewalks and boulevards to separate pedestrians and their pets from traffic. If you venture into the wilderness areas to the north and west you will experience rougher, hillier terrain, and require footwear with more substantial ankle support.
There are steep hills and changes in elevations and rocky terrain, great for doing some climbing and featuring great vistas, but be careful! Make sure your pooch is in good shape for long hikes in these wilderness areas if you decided to explore them, and protect his feet from hot, rocky ground that can feature harsh vegetation.
