Little Armenia has flat terrain and plenty of pedestrian walkways, making for easy on-foot travel with your dog. There are lots of major roadways in the area such as Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard and Franklin Avenue, where there is lots of traffic accessing commercial areas. Watch out for traffic in these spots, and lots of pedestrians on walkways. Keep your dog leashed for his safety. The west side of the community is bordered by the 101, or Hollywood Freeway. This busy artery can be difficult to navigate across on foot, and pedestrians will need to locate pedestrian bridges, or overpasses with sidewalks to cross. Mixed in with commercial services, restaurants, hotels and retail shops in the area are single-family homes, townhomes, apartments, and condominiums. Many have nicely landscaped yards for passersby to enjoy. The Hollywood Hills and mountains located nearby provide scenery and can be viewed to the north of the community.
Located in Little Armenia proper is the Barnsdall Art Park. This park is located at the top of Olive Hill, and provides a great view of the surrounding areas and Hollywood Hills. Barnsdall Art Park features a world-class art gallery, and runs programs and hosts exhibits that can be enjoyed by the public. Dogs are permitted in certain areas of the park on-leash, and grounds and walkways can be enjoyed by residents and their pets. Other parks in the surrounding area include La Mirada Park and Green Block Project, also Lexington Park and Seily Rodriguez Park, located to the west of Little Armenia on the other side of the 101. Just a short distance to the north of Little Armenia, through Thai Town, the Ferndell Trailhead can be accessed and this spectacular greenway trail leads north to the wilderness areas of Griffith Park. This is a fantastic trail to explore with your dog and enjoy natural terrain and wilderness in the Hollywood area.
