Wag! Walkers know Mar Vista
Mar Vista is a residential community nestled between Venice and the San Diego Freeway in Westside Los Angeles. As one of the more affluent neighborhoods in Los Angeles, several celebrities choose to live there. Mar Vista is also home to several elementary and middle schools and some name-brand grocery stores. This small neighborhood is very dog-friendly and many Mar Vista restaurants welcome dogs in their outdoor seating.

Venice Boulevard is where you'll find a variety of coffee shops and stores, including those for your pet. The VCA Venice Boulevard Animal Hospital sits next to the Dog Bakery, a store selling dog toys and homemade treats as well as customizable dog birthday cakes. Mar Vista Animal Medical Center sits on Grand View Boulevard just south of Venice Boulevard and Centinela Pet Feed and Supplies is nearby as well. This quiet neighborhood offers a place for a leisurely walk any time of year as Los Angeles' climate stays warm all year round.
What is the terrain like in Mar Vista?
Even though Mar Vista is mainly comprised of concrete sidewalks and roadways that wind through residential areas, the paths are surrounded by green grass and palm trees, so your pup won't miss out on some greenery while out and about. Though the neighborhood is mostly flat, there are some hills here and there. The steepest hill you might encounter is in the Mar Vista Hill area, but it's worth the view you'll find at the top.

Many residents often complain about the neighborhood's proximity to Santa Monica Airport and you'll often find 'No Jets' signs in yards as a protest to the noise of airplane traffic above. All in all, Mar Vista is a very walkable neighborhood that spans nearly three square miles. The neighborhood is quieter than other bustling regions of Los Angeles, so you and your pet will enjoy a relaxing walk with views of palm tree-lined streets and access to local amenities.
How many greenways are there in Mar Vista?
There aren't a lot of large green spaces in Mar Vista, but the tree-lined sidewalks make up for that. It's not hard to find a grassy area to rest under a palm tree for a moment while out walking. The largest park is Mar Vista Recreation Center: a designated area with courts, fields, and buildings for different physical activity. There's also plenty of green space with picnic tables and shady areas to enjoy a day at the park. While dogs are allowed at the park, they must be on a leash at all times in order to prevent any run-ins with other visitors and pedestrians in the area.

Airport Dog Park, though technically in Santa Monica, borders the northern part of Mar Vista and is a perfect place for some leash-free exploration. Despite its lack of large parks, Mar Vista remains a relaxing residential area perfect for walks with plenty of greenery along the way.
