The residential and commercial areas have moderate hills while the majority of the steeper inclines are in the more natural parts of the neighborhood. As previously mentioned,  Mt. The boundaries of Tujunga are not especially linear, but it is bordered by a few other neighborhoods including Deukmejian Wilderness Park to the north, Crescenta Highlands to the east, La Tuna Canyon Park and the Verdugo Mountains to the south, and Sunland to the west. The area is especially great for people and pets with an affinity for the outdoors.

There are plenty of greenways and natural areas in Tujunga. Smaller parks, located in the more populated part of the neighborhood, include Fehlhaber-Houk Park, Howard Finn Park, McGroarty Park, Blanchard Canyon, Haines Canyon Park, and Rowley Canyon. These are all relatively small and may contain playgrounds or sports facilities without any areas that are specifically for dogs, so you'll want to keep your pup on a leash.

The larger greenway in Tujunga is Deukmejian Wilderness Park which is a 700-acre park that is located in both the Tujunga and Glendale neighborhoods. It is a relatively undisturbed and natural environment but has plenty of hiking trails if you and your dog are looking for a bit more exercise. There are no dog-specific areas in this park either, so your pet will need to remain leashed at all times. If you do decide to take a hike, please be sure to always be prepared with the correct gear.
