Woodland Hills, Los Angeles is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region that borders the Santa Monica Mountains. It is a largely residential area with a number of schools, shopping malls, and hotels. Route 101 runs from east to west through its center and has an intersection with Route 27 Topango Canyon Boulevard that runs from north to south.

There are a number of pet services available in the area. For example, Woodland Hills Pet Clinic that resides just south of the intersection provides all the veterinary services you should need for a brief checkup. There are a few more vets in the area including West Valley Pet Clinic on Ventura Boulevard and Paw and Claw Veterinary Hospital on the same road a little further east.

You also have access to a large pet supply store located in Gateway Plaza which will provide you with all the goodies you need to keep your pooch happy.

The area is mainly residential and therefore consists mostly of houses, roads, and sidewalks. However, it is surrounded by a number of large parks and in its southeastern sector, you have the very large Corbin Canyon Park. In general, you have a nice balance of built-up and natural environments. This means you have all the amenities you need and the ability to have a great social life while only being a short drive from some of the city’s wild mountainous areas.

Woodland Hills can most certainly feel mountainous. Located in the San Fernando Valley region and bordering the Santa Monica Mountains, Woodland Hills can feel very steep at times. Since it is located in a very warm, sub-tropical climate, it is important that you bring lots of water for your pooch if you’re intending on going for a long walk. The mountainous landscape can increase the rate of dehydration, so always be prepared.

Woodland Hills has a large amount of natural space within its borders including the notable Corbin Canyon Park and Serrania Park. This 328-acre park has a number of walking trails through grassland and wooded area. Since it is part of the Santa Monica Mountains, expect steep hills. Despite this, it’s a great space to let your pooch off the lead to roam free. It’s less travelled than some of the more common routes through the mountains, so it’s ideal for those looking to get off the beaten path.

On Woodland Hill’s western border, you have Upper Las Virgenes Canyon: a huge wildlife park with a number of wide open fields. Again, it is very hilly but offers a wealth of walking trails and canyons that are often enjoyed by mountain bikers and horse riders. You won’t be the only one enjoying this beautiful natural space, but it’s ideal for those who are near to the Hidden Hills and Calabasas areas.
