Golden Hill is an eclectic neighborhood, popular with musicians and artists and within easy walking distance of a nearby college, the city's business core, and entertainment districts. Art galleries, theatres, music venues, restaurants, local convenience stores, and boutiques are all within walking distance and the area is inviting to pedestrians and pets.

Dog owners can access the B Street Veterinary Hospital on foot and, while strolling in the region, you and your dog can stop for a snack at local dog-friendly restaurants which include Krakatoa, Pizzeria Luigi, and Giorginos. Many commercial establishments are concentrated on 25th Street on the west side of Golden Hill and a park with many attractions is located immediately to the north.

San Diego boasts beautiful weather for walking with your dog most of the year. Sunny, dry, and warm weather is common, winters are mild, and although some overcast and rainy days occur in spring, these are short-lived with weather usually clearing later in the day.

Golden Hill is bordered by Interstate 5 to the west, Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway on the south, 34th Street on the east, and A Street on the north. Many residents enjoy the proximity to downtown and entertainment districts nearby, however, pedestrians must cross Interstate 5 on the west, Interstate 15 to the east, or the freeway to the south to reach adjacent neighborhoods on foot.

The 32nd Street Canyon runs north-south on the east side of the Golden Hill neighborhood and creates another impediment to foot traffic, although a much more scenic one!  The canyon can be crossed on C Street or using natural trails through the rough terrain.

Much of the area consists of residential dwellings with low rise apartments and single-family detached homes on well-landscaped properties with plenty of large trees. This is a historic neighborhood and has architecturally interesting vintage homes and buildings. The terrain is hilly and there are elevation changes to navigate.

This park is 2.3 acres and has picnic tables and a drinking fountain
