Harborview has many local eateries that welcome leashed pets in their outdoor seating venues, including James Coffee Company, the Crack Shack, Juniper and Ivy, Bolt Brewery, Monello, Cafe Gratitude, Landini’s Pizzeria, Petrini’s Italian Pizza, and Princess Pub and Grille. Nearby pet supply stores include Doggie Style Pets Little Italy and Dogla and the Amici Pet Hospital of Little Italy can also be reached on foot.
San Diego’s beautiful, warm, sunny weather makes foot travel to reach local amenities pleasant throughout the year with cold weather or long wet spells being exceedingly rare in the region. You should never have to worry about dreary weather when walking in this community.
The waterfront on the west border is a significant landscape feature with a waterfront park and marinas. This is a highly developed urban area with multi-story buildings and little green landscaping. Residents of the area live in apartment or condominium complexes.
The terrain is relatively level this close to the waterfront, so you and your dog do not have to contend with steep grades. Sidewalks line the community's streets, so you and your pooch don't have to share the road with vehicles but have a separate, safe walkway.
Harborview residents and their pets can enjoy the beautiful well maintained and landscaped Waterfront Park. The park has greens and terraces with gardens and fountains. A promenade and paved walkways are a great place to stroll with your leashed pup. The park is popular for special public and private events and has local vendors along the promenade, so you can pick up a snack on a stroll with your pet. Seating is available, as are restroom facilities.
A few blocks to the east, Harborview canines and their owners can visit the Little Italy Dog Park. This designated off-leash park is fully enclosed, although it does not have separate areas for large and small dogs. If you have a small, shy, or senior dog, you may want to visit the park at off-peak times when it is not so busy. There is seating in the shade for owners to supervise their pups, landscaping, and a water source.
