Several pet-friendly restaurants are located along Miramar Road where your dog can sit in outdoor seating venues when the weather cooperates. These include Pastalini, Legacy Brewing Company, Cape Town Bar and Grill, and Sima’s Grill and Deli.
The weather in San Diego is pleasant for walks with your dog most of the year with plenty of warm, sunny weather. Winters are a bit cooler, but still tolerable. Occasional fog and overcast days occur in May and June, but cloud cover and fog usually burn off later in the morning.
Miramar is the site of a military airstrip, commercial area, and residential housing associated with the marine base. The neighborhood is located west of Interstate 15, east of Interstate 805, and north of Route 52. The airfield is centrally located in the region with residential homes just north of the base. There is also a large natural space on the south side and a commercial district on the north side. A golf course providing a manicured green space is also located adjacent to the air filed.
The terrain in the area is level with no steep hills to navigate in the developed areas, although the natural terrain has elevation changes and more rugged landscape to the south. There are sidewalks in the commercial and residential areas providing safe, separate walkways for pedestrians and pets.
Homes in the area are semi-detached and detached homes that are well maintained and landscaped, creating an attractive neighborhood.
The UTC Mall Dog Park is also located in the area. It is tucked away behind the Tender Greens shop, next to an ice rink, and is not easy to find. There is only one area for large and small dogs. This park has waste disposal bags, seating for owners to supervise their pets, and a water fountain to rehydrate during hot days.
Access to the outdoor pedestrian mall is allowed, providing your dog remains on a leash. Natural areas surrounding Miramar have some natural trails, although access for you and your dog can be limited.
