Park West-Bankers Hill is bordered by Sixth avenue and Balboa Park on the east, Slate Street and Interstate 5 on the west, and Upas Street on the north. Most of the area is residential with single-family detached dwellings and some apartment buildings. Apartments bordering the park tend to be multi-story, while elsewhere in the neighborhood, they are low rise. Homes often feature historic, unique architecture and the area is well landscaped with beautiful gardens, yards, and trees.

This is an affluent neighborhood, from whence the name “Bankers Hill” came with large, sought after homes. There are some canyons that extend into the neighborhood and provide rough natural terrain with steep slopes. Most of the residential and commercial areas are relatively level, with only slight inclines that are not difficult for people and pets to get around.
