Wag! Walkers know Cow Hollow
Cow Hollow is a small neighborhood located in northern San Francisco, California, near the downtown area. It is home to both residential and commercial areas. As a rather middle-upper-class neighborhood, the residential areas have both small apartment complexes and standalone, single-family homes. Union Street, one of the main roads going through the neighborhood, is a popular commercial area with many local bars and restaurants, workout studios, shopping centers, and a grocery store. Cow Hollow also has a few churches, an elementary school, an arts school, and the Consulate General of Russia.

Cow Hollow has a mild climate and does not experience extreme cold or hot temperatures. Instead, you will usually have a mildly temperate day, maybe with a nice breeze coming from the Pacific Ocean or San Francisco Bay. Additionally, most the city's rainfall happens during the winter season, so the rest of the year should be relatively cool and dry!
What is the terrain like in Cow Hollow?
As a small, urban community, Cow Hollow is a completely artificial neighborhood. Thankfully, its proximity to the Presidio and other greenways in San Francisco allow residents to seek a more natural environment relatively quickly. However, even though it is artificial terrain, your pup shouldn't have to worry about too much hot concrete or asphalt as the mild temperatures in San Francisco cause less of a threat to their sensitive paw pads while walking around. Cow Hollow has some significant hills, but most are gradual compared to the other, well-known and steep hills in San Francisco. Lombard Street, the northern boundary to Cow Hollow, is known as one of the steepest streets in the country, but the famous tourist location is a few blocks down from this neighborhood.

The boundaries of Cow Hollow include Lombard Street to the north, Van Ness Avenue to the east, and Green and Lyon Streets to the south.
How many greenways are there in Cow Hollow?
Unfortunately, there are only a few greenways located in Cow Hollow and they are all relatively small. First, Cow Hollow Playground is a small park located in the western, residential side of the neighborhood. There is only a few places to rest and a playground at this location.

Despite the lack of greenways located within Cow Hollow's boundaries, there are a few other greenways within walking distance. Immediately to the west of the neighborhood, you will find Presidio, a former military base and national park! The Presidio has plenty of walking trails, but dog walkers should do some quick research before visiting. During many of the summer months, part of the park is closed to dogs and dog walkers as this is when coyotes mate and raise their small pups.
Additionally, if your pup needs a bit more exercise, Moscone Dog Park, an off-leash area, is located just a few miles north.
