Wag! Walkers know Aloha Isle

The natural beauty of the Lake Tahoe region was a major contributor to South Lake Tahoe becoming a city known for its gorgeous resorts. Even in the olden days, this was a pit stop for train-travelers on their way to San Francisco.

Today, South Lake Tahoe is still a popular tourist destination, especially for outdoorsmen and women. Being sandwiched between the Tahoe National Forest and El Dorado National Forest makes for a number of exciting activities. From hiking and mountain biking to skiing and snowboarding, residents and visitors alike enjoy a full year of action.

This private, residential neighborhood is made up of a series of petite coves that reach into the southern curve of Lake Tahoe. The secluded location of Aloha Isle adds to its serene water views but doesn't compromise a resident's ability to get into town in ten minutes or less. Additionally, the neighborhood is just 15-minutes from a number of outdoor activities.

What is the terrain like in Aloha Isle?

South Lake Tahoe has it all: Mountains, forests, rivers, and, the natural wonder, Lake Tahoe. A combination of both eroding and lava-spewing mountains in the Sierra Nevada as well as glaciers from the Ice Age are all responsible for creating the third deepest lake in the United States.

Due to this, South Lake Tahoe's experiences a variety of terrains from sandy beaches to red dirt roads to rocky mountain pathways. In Aloha Isle, however, the topography isn't so challenging as it recedes into the depth of Lake Tahoe. Aloha Isle is just three peninsulas jutting into the channels of its nearby lake. This makes walking around the neighborhood easy and most roads dead-end.

There are no sidewalks in Aloha Isle which could make walking your dog a little precarious. However, this private marina community has a slow speed limit so speeding vehicles shouldn't be an issue. Still, always practice caution by walking toward traffic so you're always seen by drivers.

How many greenways are there in Aloha Isle?

Bijou Dog Park is a great spot for your playful pooch to spread their social butterfly wings. Here, they can run and play off-leash while you sit in shade or sunshine and enjoy watching. If simple walks around the neighborhood or breaks in the backyard aren't cutting it, Bijou Dog Park will do the trick!

If you own a water-lover, then chances are their tail will be wagging non-stop at Kiva Beach. On the shore of Lake Tahoe, Kiva is completely dog-friendly and is, therefore, a popular destination for both those with two feet and four paws.

Although out past the airport, Tahoe Paradise Park is well worth the 15-minute drive from Aloha Isle. A favorite local gem, this park offers a great many activities for the explorer in everyone. Swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaking are made possible by Lake Baron and hiking, jogging, and mountain biking are available thanks to a number of trails in the park.
